This is where most projector money is wasted. Brightness is measured in ANSI lumens, a standard that averages light across nine points of the image. But cheap projectors — and even some mainstream ones — advertise plain "lumens," "LED lumens," or "lux" instead, which are unregulated and routinely inflated three to fifteen times over real output. The rule: if the listing does not say "ANSI lumens," treat the brightness number as fiction. A screen is not optional polish — it is the surface every photon lands on, and the wrong one quietly ruins an expensive projector.
